Ningxia night market Monday, May 29, 2017 @ May 29, 2017Getting there Mrt: Shuanglian mrt (Red line) Exit: 1 After exiting turn left and walk straight ahead. Food I had! 阿婆飯糰🍙 A Po rice ball NT$40 (~S$1.87) There was a snaking queue that formed way before the stall opened at 6:10. We started to queue at around 6pm and waited for about half an hour after the stall opened. The stall is now manned by 3 young people and not the granny. The queue gets longer and longer beyond the oyster omelette shop at the building next to it. The queue is slowly but steadily moving as the lady deftly makes the rice ball individually. There's spicy and non spicy flavours. The rice ball consists of 肉鬆 floss, 酸菜 sour veg, 菜脯 sweet preserved radish and 油條 dough fritters. The lady pressed the rice ball together after placing the ingredients on it. The rice ball is about the size of my hand and the best part is that it isn't oily at all! The dough fritters is crispy and the sour veg is not too salty. Everything compliments each other perfectly. The rice is chewy glutinous rice. Totally worth the wait! 寧夏牛排 Ningxia beef steak They serve free red tea (self service) with seats to dine in. It's like food court dining where you have to find your own seats and there's a menu where you can write down your order and head in front to submit. All food items come with either noodles or rice. There's also plain noodles (NT$60 ~S$2.81) on the hotplate. The pork chop was really tender! Had similar texture to chicken though there's some unchewable fatty parts. Recommend this! The beef however was not so good. It's tender but had too much tendons. It's more expensive than pork but not as good. The noodles were yellow noodles but cooked to an al dente texture which went really well with the black pepper mushroom sauce. Think they got our sauce wrong cause we wanted mushroom sauce. Their business was really good. People kept coming and going. 雙拼 牛+豬 NT$200 (~S$9.37) 鹽酥雞 NT$50 (~S$2.34) The salted crispy chicken was tender but they contain bones. The chicken had dried basil which helped to alleviate the oiliness making it easier to finish the whole pack! 澎湖海鮮 Penghu seafood They're famous for their daily seafood that comes from Penghu. The stall opened rather late ard 6:45. Surprisingly, there was no queue. And plenty of seats available too! 烤生蠔 grilled fresh oysters 7 for NT$100 (~S$4.68) Oysters were fresh but not too big. They have 4 types of condiments. The must have lemon juice, thai sweet chilli, light sauce and wasabi. Yam paste ball with salted egg The queue's like 5 stalls long and growing! Yam ball is NT$20 (~S$0.87) and with salted egg yolk is NT$25 (~S$) Heard from the Taiwanese at the back that the queue is exceptionally long today! Queued for about 15 minutes today. Enough time for bf to go get his milk tea with pearl. They don't stop moving! (And we don't stop eating! - bf) Look at the mountains of ingredients! And her quick fingers! Got to take a few photos to find the right angle! We got 4 yam balls and 2 with salted egg yolk. They use an ice cream scoop to scoop out the yam paste and then fry them to a golden brown colour. The yam is very compact 很綿密 and ends up becoming chewy but a little dry, so do drink lots of liquid! It's still very good though, especially for yam lovers! For the yam with salted egg yolk, they would use the yam paste and wrap with pork floss and a whole salted egg yolk in between. Toffee milk tea with pearl NT$60 (~S$) The toffee was more like caramelised sugar. The lady recommended bf to take this instead of the normal milk tea and it's not good. Don't get this. While queuing for the yam balls, there was time to get 雞卷 chicken roll NT$40 (~S$) This was good! Boneless chicken meat is wrapped with chicken skin and grilled till it's cooked and the skin crisp. Would definitely go very well with rice. Must try when you're there! Mango ice NT$180 Mango ice was not bad, the ice was very smooth and milky but not overly sweet. Do try out these food when you get to Ningxia Night market:) Labels: holiday, night market, Ningxia night market, tourist, travel, yam ball從, 寧夏夜市,台北,台灣 |
