Uyi deep fried squid Sunday, May 8, 2016 @ May 08, 2016Was at bugis junction yesterday to change my shoes! And we headed to Uyi to try the queue long deep fried squid. It looked really humongous when we saw others eat!   Large deep fried squid ($6.80) as showed standing next to the deep fryer. [btw, that's a sample of how the large deep fried squid is like] There're also popcorn squid ($3.80)! Portion for the popcorn squid seems to be reasonable. Not too little. Powders like hot & spicy, seaweed salt & pepper, sour plum, etc are available for sprinkling on the fried items  It's like half the size of the large deep fried squid. Which explains the significant price difference. There're sauces to accompany the grilled ones. Like their signature obasan sauce. After like 3 rounds of deep frying, we finally got our order! We had the large deep fried squid with sour plum powder!   It was perfectly fried! There was a timer ensuring that they fried it just right. Squid was tender and fresh. Worth it! But I think I chewed till my mouth was quite tired:X Too pricey to have it too often.
