Went for this buffet yesterday!=D

Was late meeting her cause someone asked me to do a survey for them. But that's not the point.

Anyway, was there late.

Reservations was at 12.30 but reached around 1pm.

The place was next to the Singtel com centre.

So was about a 10 min walk from somerset station.

Bought the groupon so the buffet was $21 + $5.30(GST & svc charge paid to the restuarant).

Reached there and got our seats at the counter cause we only had two people.
Huge array of food selections!

Table setting! But they forgot my saucer=(
Look at the sashimi in front of us! yums!
Niku Beef Shoyu

Beef fried with shoyu and onion.

Beef was really tender, every piece of it!

A tad too salty but would go really well with a bowl of rice!
Spider maki!

Was alright only cause the soft shell crab, though crispy, but a little tough, was cold.

Mixed platter sashimi!
Yellowtail and salmon was real good!

Cheese katsu.

Was alright only.
Sausage wrapped with bacon!

This is nice!

The bacon wasn't very salty.

Ebi fry

sauce was a bit salty.
Peach salad!

They should use a less ripe peach cause it's too sweet!

(I know... sweet complain, not sweet also complain! Hahas XD)
All these manage to come together! =D
More sashimi!
With the ebi sushi.
Chawamushi & Cheese chawanmushi
Chawanmushi was smooth and not bad but not much ingredients.

There's just mozzarella cheese placed at the top.
Remembered ordering sake teppan (Salmon teppanyaki)

But for theirs, its fried salmon drizzled with the teriyaki sauce and kimuchi next to it.
This was after like 1 hour of waiting.

But thankfully, it was good!

(mini) enoki bacon!

The sauce was quite sweet and thick.

Bad point to note was their bacon had the bone bits on it! >.<

And if it came earlier, we would definitely have seconds and thirds! XD
Shiitake mushroom (grilled) didnt try this but didn't look appetizing though.
Fried tofu and tempura prawn/vegetables (I told the waitress that I didn't want the vegetables. But, sigh, it still came.)
Gyoza!

This is good! They even have "soup" in them!

Think it should be handmade. Otherwise it's the agimonoto brand=)
Mid-joint chicken wing was good too!

Tender and well done.
Chicken teppan!

Came after like an hour plus.
This was sent to us as though it's a dessert.

Didn't try it but was a really small bowl!

So can order their ramen and udon when you're there!
The service there was:

-fast when they kept the empty plates and when it came to paying the bill

-really slow when asking to order, waiting for the food to come, refilling of drinks(they didn't automatically refill!)

We had to ask for our food like 2 or 3 times!

Dinner $35++

(Swordfish sashimi available!)

Would go back again cause of the variety!=D

Went to queenstown(way? hahas) food centre for lunch with daddy one monday!

Had this!

Was bubbly hot when I got it.

Though I'd appreciate more laksa leaves!=D

Was thick enough and flavouring was good though a little too salty.

Spent sleepily at home=)

Was really snoozing all the way.

Wanted to take an afternoon nap but I resisted against it!

Went shopping before dinner at ntuc=D

spent $60 on it =O

A lot on frozen food. Heh.

All were offer items.

Love grocery shopping!

I wanna make cupcakes!

Got the inspiration from HDB tai tai=D

Seeing them going to the shop which sells all the sugared stuffs!

So cool!

Watched "Special Forces"

It was a nice movie!

But kind of violent though=/

NC16 film.

About this French journalist who was caught by the Taliban and the special forces from French was sent there to rescue her.

It was really inspirational to see how the special forces team could give up their lives for their team members and the French journalist.

And at the end how she insisted on going back to look for the two who sacrificed their chance of survival for her instead of going straight to a hospital.

Very nice movie but seems more of a documentary.

A must watch!

These are the movies I watched from 21 Dec, Wed to 27 Dec, Tue!

21 Dec and 26 Dec (Watched twice!)

At the same cinema and exact same hall!!
Alvin & the Chipmunks 3!
As usual, the chipmunks were so cute!
This time, the movie is about the chipmunks going on a cruise vacation and getting cast away(sounds familiar?).
And things start to change when they meet a human(Zoe) on the island who said she was a air delivery pilot and had landed there by accident.
Dave and Ian were also incidentally blown away and landed on the same island.
Ending was a good one, of course.
With lots of party music included.

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows
Very intriguing movie.
Sets your mind working on the stuffs that happened.
Interesting series as usual.
Gets more exciting as the movie goes on.
Just when you thought the show's gonna end then surprise!
And it gets better and better=)
Ending was unexpected and has a link to the beginning.

25 Dec Christmas Day!
We bought a zoo
Based on a true story of a single father with two children buying a home which comes with a zoo attached.
Story started with the mom who passed away half a year ago.
And the son showed his grief in his own ways(his art work of head being cut off from its body and rebellion towards his father)
He was then expelled from school for stealing money.
Thus Benjamin(Matt Damon) began looking for a new home as he wanted a new beginning.
He and his daughter went house hunting and found that the home(with a zoo) is perfect for them.
They decided to revive the zoo which was closed for 2 years already.
Story goes by as they go about preparing for the zoo inspection.
It was rather touching as the family go about getting over their grief for the loss of their loved one.

27 Dec and 30 Dec (watched this twice too!!)

And at the same cinema same hall! Same as Alvin & the chipmunks!!
Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol

Super exciting show!

We found out the reason why Ethan was in jail and what actually happened.
There was an exciting start but the credits were a little too long.

Made you feel bored already.

Then after they escaped prison, came the real mission.
Was rather funny in parts of the mission.
The way they did stuffs.
Very exciting when he had to climb a hotel that was 110 storeys high.
Ending was very good and satisfying=D
Definitely worth a watch!

The duck is tender and taste good even after it's cooled down.

And very nice & crispy!

Meal there was good but very costly!

Can go there eat once a year but that would be all.

Exhilarated! Hahas. Cause I didn't have a clue how to get the references at all=/

Good quality but little variety

This is what greets you when you arrive at the restaurant.
Well, there's still the front desk reception but, I'm a little shy to take photo of her=X
Hahas. Pretty quiet ambience. Place reminds me of Starz Restaurant in RW Sentosa

Sauce for the roasted cuts section.

We ordered soya chicken and roasted duck

Chicken was tender and taste good with the chilli sauce and the plum sauce[middle]=)

Roasted duck was salty too but the skin really isn't good.

Not crispy enough and quite hard to separate the fats from the skin

Laksa!
The BEST hotel buffet laksa!
Even better than trader's hotel's.

ANd it's got to be the best part of this buffet!
(A little exaggeration cause I really love laksa, so this proves that the laksa is really good)

Better than katong's one too! Cause katong one didn't really maintain their standard over the years

Beef brisket!
there were beef pieces in them and the brisket part.

Didn't eat the brisket cause it's like jell-0 form and I didn't like those kind

Hahas. Prefer the type that is fully meat!

Seafood with beancurd

Seafood taste rather plain and the beancurd is the normal silky tofu, not the egg beancurd.

Not really a good dish to order unless u want the rice in it.

They also have others like the curry fish, which was really good btw. Try to ask if they could just give u the fish pieces, unless u like to eat the eggplant and other stuffs.

Salad!

Smoked salmon's good=)
But the ham ain't very nice.

Tuna was just normal

Dim Sum Time!

Siew Mai!

This is not bad=)

There's prawn meat that's generously served in the fillings.

But there's no chilli sauce to go with it=/
Maybe cause I didn't check

Har Gao (Prawn Dumpling)

Full of prawns!

And good, not the best, but still, good!

Carrot cake.

There's carrot slices inside and dried shrimp.

Pan fried til it's crispy and it was indeed good!

But a tad oily. Hahas. Still good! Miss eating it =)

Lotus wrapped glutinous rice

Because it was steamed only when requested so the rice is just right.

Every one of them has salted egg yolk in it.

Chicken is salty but goes well with the rice.

Char siew bun

Bun was soft and filling was sweet. But nothing really special about it.
It was healthy cause not much fats was placed in the filling.

PIZZA!

Had one Frutti Di Mare

Didn't know that it's actually seafood pizza!

The crust is really thin and crispy.

I think it's made when you order.

Mozzeralla cheese is really generously spread and really good!

DESSERTS

Chocolate and Vanilla Ice Cream

The vanilla ice cream has bits of vanilla in it and taste really creamy.

It's like they used milk in the making of the ice cream.

The chocolate dessert is good!

But the blueberry cheesecake ain't very good=(

It's like spongecake with cheesecake.
But I like those solid kind of cheese.

Blueberry cream puffs!

This is really worth eating!

Not many places provide this and the filling ain't just mousse, it's more solid than the normal kind of cream puff filling

Cheng Tng was not very sweet and quite nice to eat for an aftermeal drink/dessert=)

A good meal to go for!

Definitely worth the money considering the quality given.

And the food's prepared only when you ask for it, except stuffs like the roast section.

Forgot to take my medicine after eating lunch
But I slept for like 4 hours plus.
Though it didn't seem to really help my cough.
Cough seems to have become worse.
Sigh.
And my mum's blaming it on the murtabak I had on sat.

But the murtabak's good!
Hahas.
It's crispy and there's chicken meat. Lols.
But the curry has too much chilli oil though.

Still, probably a really bad idea to eat for supper when I knew I was gonna be sick=/

And the cough medicine doesn't really seem to help..
My throat is feels like someone just dug a whole in it.
Painful to cough and I don't feel like eating already=(

Went to Swatao Seafood for Dim Sum Buffet today with Joey!

Joey arrived first=x
She waited outside for a very very long time.
And the waiter and waitress didn't pay attention to her.
When she was given a seat, she had to share a table with a couple.

Anyway, there's no menu available.
It's just people pushing those dim sum carts and asking you if you want the stuffs they have.
When I reached, this was what's on the table.

Basically, the food's a tad salty.
Some cute stuffs like the green spinach skin dumling(no pic provided)
But it's also salty.
The kueh pie ti thing is like fake abalone with mayonnaise(a hint of wasabi was present)
The xiao long bao was salty, the meat filling had like a few small hard pieces which I had to spit out.
Same for the siew mai and dumplings.

Char Siew Bao was quite tender, and there's the dragon beard durian with prawn filling. It was quite cold when I ate it. Should take it immediately when it's hot so that it'll be crispy.
But so so only.

Char siew chee cheong fun was alright when taken hot. But the skin though it looks thin, becomes rather hard when it's cold.

Desserts!

Gui Ling Gao was not bad. and in cute containers!

Like the mango pudding! Mango pudding was soft and melt in the mouth. I like it but Joey likes those like jelly type.

Grass jelly was okay only. No taste really =/

Place is at Toa Payoh, next to the library and at the place which was previously Fortunate Restaurant.

Watched this on tue!
Nice movie!

About this car accident where 5 high school senior yr students were killed.
But what the parents and other people don't know is that its not the fault of just the driver alone.
Unreasonable rules were set in that town
But then a guy came in to town to live with his uncle.
He started breaking the rules and gradually, started to change the rules of the town and changing the mindsets and hearts & minds of the townspeople and the pastor.

Very nice movie with very good morals to take away.
And this movie reminded me of something that I've put away,
to have a faith as small as that of a mustard seed, you'll be able to move a mountain.
Something that I needed to be reminded of

So, if you have the time and if you wanna catch a movie, go watch this!

Watched this movie today!

Concept for a movie's not bad.

Though the whole thing wasn't put together very coherently.

Some parts were not very well explained.

Like whose the person whom sylvia mentioned when she went to rob her father.

And other parts like why don't the chief time keeper want to get out of poverty?

Although the part of like why it is that the time circulation part was very right.

That a disruption of it would ruin the entire system

Still, not a bad movie.

Interesting characters and development though most parts are too predictable.

Went for this cause of the LAKSA part and its B.U.F.F.E.T.
Man! How on earth could I resist buffet?
Hahas!
Anyway, bought vouchers so it's $10 per pax =)
Value for money right? I know. Hahas.

Just had to get like 70% of the stuffs on the menu!
And all the different types of meat of course~!

Seasoned jellyfish - Not very nice

Seaweed - It's the seasoned kind but I didn't like it=x
Bottom:

Fried food paradise!(Just kidding! Hahas)

It's fried mantou - had repeated orders from beginning to end-got to show how much we love it=D

Fried wantan - meat's very little but not bad

Chicken wing - was alright, nothing special

TOP: Assortment of meat, mushroom, dumplings(good to try) and veg

MUST ORDER: FRIED TOFU! (No pics though)

BOTTOM: Dessert!

There's mango pudding and apple pudding(taste like the 7-eleven's slurpie! - definite must try!).

Had 3 whole bowls of this!

Totally melts in your mouth.

Excellent course to finish up your meal=)

All in all, a good place to gather and have food!

Oh! Before I end, must talk about the soup!

Very important!

Laksa base - Alright only. My mum makes better soup. Hahas. Cause it's quite diluted. Can improve on that considering that laksa steamboat's their main selling point.

Herbal soup - Just normal. But is good for cooking the meat=D

People always talk about multi-tasking.
And a lot of people tell us not to multi-task.
So if you don't want us to multi-task, then stop multi-expectations!
You expect a person who is hardworking(doing housework, studying, helping others) and expect the person to be obedient.
Not go out, and does things according to what you want and do the right things.
Be the right person.
And also be like the best dog you can find in singapore!
And what else?
Be the perfect person and live the perfect live?

Seriously?
If you expect so much, then I don't think anyone in this world can fulfil your expectations.
Apparently, grasses on the other ends do look much better and seems to be "perfect"
Everyone on the other end are like the most wonderful person in the world.
They do everything right
And they live the 'dream life'
Sadly, it's always the bad side that everyone fails to see.
That's so typical of a human being, or should I say, typical of what I would think.
Perhaps, that's why I'm at a lost for words now.

ROBINSON & MIO TV PRESENTS A FASHIONISTA @ AVALON

Went to the booth set up beside Robinsons @ MBS to get our goodie bag as well as our ticket!
Entrance was also at that place called Pangaea

Our ticket!
Comes with 2 complimentary soft drink (coke/sprite/ginger ale) as well as a glass of wine (choice of red or white)

RIGHT: Stuffs from the goodie bag!

LEFT: Got the red wine for a full bodied fill.

But their red wine was disappointing.

Found out later that it was a mix 2 wines hence a little stale taste.

RIGHT: Ginger ale! But tasted like sprite. Ginger taste was really mild.

LEFT: The pretty crystal decoration in the mid of the seats.

Models were waiting to go on the show!

So excited!

Hahas.

And they were soooo cute!

Forgot to blog about this very impt thing!

Went to sing karaoke at KBox @ *Scape on Friday 23 Sept 2011.
Experienced very bad service attitude by the staffs there.
And I got to repeat, it's S.T.A.F.F.SSSSSSS

Booked the online package for 4pm.
We were there an hour early.
So wanted to start singing early.
But the female staff at the counter were adamant at not allowing us to start early though I know that the room was empty.
But then, forget it.

When we came at 3.55, we got a room which was like very small for 4 persons.
I mean, in the other kbox branches, the rooms were far bigger.
So we asked to change to a bigger room.
And the staff TOLD us to go to the room first.
And then said that we should go in first cause there are other people waiting for her.
P.I.S.S.E.D.!.!
After like a few minutes, another of her colleague came over and told us that this is the biggest room they have there.
Then forget it.

We bought bubble tea there.
And is like after 2 plus hours of singing, one of them came in and said that we can't bring in outside drinks.
And the most ridiculous part is that there's only less than an hour of singing left for us.
So the girl kept one of the bubble tea for us cause the rest are finished.

After singing, we wanted to get back the cup of bubble tea.
While waiting for them to get it, they BROKE the cup.
The bubble tea is from Artease btw.
And, in addition to that, the cups there are VERY VERY thick and sturdy.
How on earth can you even break such a hard cup?
It's like at least twice the hardness of the cups from the likes of KOI and Gong Cha.
They spilled like more than half the drink and my friend only drank two mouthfuls.
And she bought the LARGE one.
They did not even bother to compensate us for the drink and wanted to put the rest of the drink into a new cup.
Which was like totally unacceptable for such a place.
What kind of service attitude is that?

Went for Dim Sum Buffet today at tpy's The Oriental Cafe @ OrangeTee
Supposedly a chinese restaurant but expect a range of fusion food.
There's jap, thai, western as well as the very obvious, chinese cuisines.
Kind of weird having so many cuisines but for $15.90++, it's considered worth it.

ZOOKEEPER

Wanted to swim but ended up watching movie and dinner=)
Hahas!

Zookeeper was like funny.
At the parts where the animals tried to "educate" him on mating education.
Hahas.
Then when he followed exactly what they told him to do, its really hard to hold back the laughter!
The story plot was alright, predictable, but not bad if you want something that's a little romantic and hilarious at the same time=)
So catch this if you have the time or, as I've said, get/rent the DVD when its out!

Had dinner at Thai Express.
And realised that they forgot to give me back my card when I got home.
So careless=x
But just called them and I can go back and get my card anytime=)

Nothing much today..

But, going out with Liana tml!
Gonna catch Horrible Bosses=D
And dinner!

Been a rather good few days.
Went out with friends.
Still missing korea
And I think I should go get some piano students to teach.
Lols.

Anyway, WENT FOR SHABU SHABU TODAY WITH J.O.E.Y.!.!.!
Wanted to eat at the one at ILUMA but it closed down already.
It's now selling 5 different types of ramen and you can vote for your favourite one=)
Didn't try that cause SHABU SHABU was our main purpose.

Went to marina square for the shabu shabu instead @ SUKI-YA HOUSE
Was told that they would close at 3pm for some event so we thought that we could eat til 3.
But, no. You can only eat til 2.30.
Though they were like nice enough to only start chasing us away at 2.45.
('Gentle' reminders were given at 2.40 to tell us to try to finish the meat)
Aside from that, was quite good eating there.
Favs were the BEEF and CHICKEN.
PORK was good but only if it's not over-cooked.
CHICKEN was like QQ one and no worries if it's placed in the pot, it tastes the same.
BEEF should be like placed inside for 10 sec and then eaten.
DO NOT overcook the BEEF.

Cheese tofu was also an added bonus=)
Cause I LOVE TO EAT CHEESE!
But remember to cook it well.

Some not very good things were that the pot took a little too much time to get heated.
Spoils the appetite.
Service there was alright only though the person forgot one of our beef and only took it when reminded.
BRING YOUR OWN WATER cause they don't provide plain water.
Which is like really bad cause in korea every restaurant provides distilled water as part of their service. Really love that part of their culture. Tissue is also provided(IN KOREA)!^^

WHY CAN'T I TYPE CHINESE?=(

I WANT TO GO TAIWAN!

Shall blog about the movies I watched last week=)

(1) Tell Tale

It's about this guy who got a heart transplant. His transplanted heart owner was murdered for the heart! Bad right?!
And that's not the end of the story.
When the guy went back to the hospital for check up (which he had to regularly), he accidentally saw the details about his donor and other related stuffs. Then he felt his heart thumping very fast and then he realised that the person whom is related to his heart's murder would cause this heart thumping effect. And he slowly finds the ppl who is part of the group and kills every single one of them.

Thriller and was rather exciting at the end.
Though ending was very much anticipated.
And the movie's actually out before on channel 5 if I'm not wrong so.. Watch it on DVD instead^^
You'll save a lot more.

(2) Rise of the planet of the apes

A very heartwarming and touching story. A most definite tear jerker.
Story revolves around this scientist whose trying to invent a medicine that cures Alzheimer's disease mainly because his dad has the disease.
He ended up bringing home a baby ape and the baby ape began to bring joy and helps them to understand things they weren't able to see before.
It ends up that the apes became smarter and the humans, well, in a sense, dumber.

A really good movie to catch!
Go to Shaw! Hahas. Cause the one at Nex and Lido has leather seats!
And the air-conditioning is really comfortable=)

(3) Wu Xia

Expected a lot from this show cause Donnie Yen's in it.
Saw that he choreographed the action parts =D
And indeed, the martial arts part was very exciting and well done.
But the entire story plot was kind of lame.
Couldn't comprehend it in the beginning.
Quite hard to catch the gist of the show.
And there was the accent part which made it harder to understand(though there's the help of subtitles)

But overall, still worth a watch for Donnie Yen's really good martial arts!

But then, also a good thing cause if we took the kimchi also dunno how to put le.
Our luggages are too full and too heavy

Went N Seoul Tower yesterday.
But was raining throughout.
So the view was very foggy and can't see much.
Went to the Teddy Bear Museum only.
Cause going to the Observatory seemed to be a major waste of money.
The teddy bears at the Museum were alll sooooo cuuutteeeee!!!!
OMG!
Feel like bringing them back home.
Lol.
Bought two bears!
Can take out the clothes de.
Lol.
I not byeon tae (pervert)
Just that I can buy new clothes for the bears!
Hahas!
So must see if can take out the clothes.

Going for korean bbq with friends on friday.
But when I think of the quality in sg and in korea.
Super sad=(
The one in korea is like 100 million time better!
And got the vinegar light sweet sauce with onions!
Makes everything taste really good!
Can just eat the onions(raw) dipped with the sauce.

Already took 2000+ photos.
Really wonder how I'm gonna upload all of them

Went to the Chang something palace today.
Hahas.
Quite plain
Nothing much inside.
Just the buildings and a couple of lamps hanging and the emperor's throne.

Then went to Insa-dong.
Bought bags!
Hahas.
One for me and another for adeline and me to share=D
Yet to find any other stuffs suitable to buy=x
And my luggage is already full from food!
Opened the black duffel bag and it's also fully filled.
The red Diners bag is already half filled.
Have not bought the facial and cosmetics products yet=(
Gonna be out of cash soon.
Like really soon cause I'm spending more than 100,000 won a day.

Went to face shop today but could not find the stuffs that I saw in sg.
Everything seems totally different from the sg shop.
Can't find the facial foam that I bought in sg.
And the facial products I wanna buy=(((

Apparently she didn't notice that I'm overseas.

On another note, saw my friend's friend in KOREA.

Went to watch THE LION KING MUSICAL The tickets!

Was a little late=x

So had to wait outside for a while cause some of the characters had to go in through the audience first.

Thought that the theatre was really big (my "vision" from the sistic diagram) but it was a really samll one.

Smaller than Victoria Concert Hall's.

So even if we took the side seat, the view's good too!

The musical was great.

Music's awesome! (ESP the horn part! Her tone was OMG super nice!)

But the theatrical part was not as good as I expected.
The props done were really good.

A must-watch unless you're willing to either wait for them to come back, or fly to the place they're performing at to watch.

Outside the theatre

ISETAN HOKKAIDO FAIR

Ate the shoyu ramen.

The soup wasn't as nice as the normal one.

It was kind of weird mixing the shoyu with pork broth.

But the ramen was alright.

Bought a lot stuffs back!
Got the fishball(potato starch with crab & fish filling!) and ramen!

Trader's Hotel - Cafe Biz

Indian food!
Olive rice with mushroom.
A bit dry but the grains are well cooked

Potato with corn

Was a little salty.

Dhal

This is a vegetarian dish.

With the curried part and the cream.

Was salty also but would go well with prata or nann=)

I LOVE this!

Absolute favourite in the buffet=)

It's like cream sauce with mozzarella cheese brought together to complement one another.
And stop wrecking your brain thinking what's the seafood.

It's prawn!

Lotus paste bun

There were more of the fillings than the bun.

So, good for those who love the sweeter part of the bun!

Gado-Gado

The sauce was alright only.

Peanut could be finer.

Tau Kwa and the keropok was awesome!
Egg was soft and the rest, well, not really my type but not bad too!

Fresh Prawns, Mussels and clams!

The prawns were sweet and goes very well with the Thai Chilli Sauce=)

Also goes well with the gado-gado satay sauce! ^^

Mussel.
Was fresh but had the sandy things in it.
Not very clean.

~Japanese Section~ Soba was not bad (better than Pariss')

But the sauce of the soba could be richer in flavour.

There are bonito flakes, wakame and green onions for you to add on the soba=)

Jap soy sauce (I like the one at Holiday Inn Orchard, it's sweeter and more authentic. this is just plain salty)

Clams!

Similar to the mussels, this wasn't very pleasant to eat cause there was the shell bits and pieces kind of taste.

This is really good!

Like the best buffet laksa!

Hahas.

Cause my mum can make better ones. so can't say this is the best XD

To enjoy the laksa, all you have to do is to take the amount of noodles you want on a bowl and pass to the chef!

And voila! Your laksa'a ready to be savoured=)

And the shrimps here ain't bland but they've managed to take in a little of the laksa taste.

Dessert BREAK!

Some desserts before continuing cause it was 2pm already.

(Buffet ends at 2.30pm!)

Egg tart was alright.

Not as crispy as I thought it would be and the custard part wasn't very sweet.

Waffle with chocolate sauce was good!

There wasn't a separate chocolate sauce provided so I got the chocolate from the fondue fountain!

SSSSHHHH! Hahas.

But the chocolate was kind of diluted...

Roasted delights! & Grilled beef patty!

Char Siew(red one) was quite dry so a bit hard to eat. Though sauce was good.

Duck was tender and skin was good. The sauce wasn't much nice though.

Desserts!

Sponge cake with cream.

But it's rather messy though cause you gotta cut it yourself.

Roast duck drumstick!

and the crystal dumpling(it's actually a round version of soon kueh)

Filling's not bad but a little too flavourful.

And the skin is too thick.

The one in the shotglass is durian mousse cake?

The labels were very badly placed.

Anyway, it was very plain and not good.

In the porcelain's creme brulee.

That was not bad at the top layer(burnt sugar layer) but also a little plain inside.

Can't rmb the yellow sponge cake.

But the durian pudding(white one) was alright only.
Flavour of the durian wasn't very strong, so not really to my taste.

Nutty cake!

Looks really good right!

But sweet and really nutty! LOVELY!

Should be walnut taste.

Waffle, egg tart and marshmellow & grape coated with chocolate fondue!
Chocolate was not bad.

Though I think I can just drink the chocolate straight.

Had to DIY ourselves.
Probably cause there wasn't adequate manpower?

On a side note, I realised that it's only in Singapore buffets that we get to see so many DIY food.
Like rojak, mee siam, laksa, etc.
It's not really a common sight overseas, apparently

Anyway, laksa was not bad=)

Though the shrimp(freshwater ones) were too bland.
And would taste better if cooked together with the laksa sauce, which, was not possible.

Sambal prawn - Very flavourful=)

And some other stuffs. Well, guess they weren't really that memorable.

There's pasta (it's like those tomato spicy kind but a little too dry) chicken and fried potato

The potato was really good!
Can't rmb the exact name for it though.

Oops, just realised that I uploaded the photo in the wrong sequence =/

Sharkfin soup.

But there's like plenty of starch and egg.

A little crabmeat here and there and no signs of shark fin anywhere.

Then again, it's a buffet.

Norweigen Salmon Sashimi!

A total must-try!

It's like one of the best part of the buffet ^^

Had like two or three servings of it!

And they had to replenish it several times.

Freshly poached prawns, prata and octopus sashimi

The prawns were sweet=) like that of marriott but still can't beat the ones at Starz.

Achar.

This was crunchy but had too much vinegar thus resulting in this slightly bitter taste.

Kueh Lapis and Waffle with chocolate ice cream.

Waffle was crispy and really good with the marvelous chocolate ice cream=)

Wonderfully drizzled with Hersheys'(did I mention that they provide on big container of Hersheys' chocolate sauce for you?? *eye sparkles*) and accompanied with a scoop of chocolate ice cream, chocolate rice and m&ns

Thus marks the end of the buffet.
There're some other stuffs I didn't manage to try like their baked salmon veg=x and some of their salads

Variety-wise, they're alright but can't be compared to the other hotel buffets I've been to.

Price-wise : Lunch $48++ per adult
But there's 1 for 1 for uob cardholders=)

All in all, not a very worth it buffet cause my dining partner and I went to better and cheaper ones.
It's more of a quality buffet than quantity one.
And you can be assured of the good service there ♥

But overall, WORTH IT!
We got pork, chicken, beef and fish. And all for $25=D

A super sweet~movie.

Shereen said the relationship part's complicated so some people may not understand the movie.

But, ít's like super awww!!!

And a little like dumb cause Rachel and Dex didn't like follow their heart - out-loud kind of thing.

MR. POPPER'S PENQUINS

Watched that yesterday!=D
Met Eunice and Jasmine and went to Orchard.
Okay, I must admit, I get a little high when I meet with my cousins and sisters=x
It's just a little.
Initially thought we were going Orchard orchard, but ended up at PS.
And coincidentally, the place I was gonna meet Tricia at later that day.
Hahas.

Anyway, back to the movie!

Movie was hilarious!
A lot of funny laughs throughout.
And THE MORAL OF THE STORY part is rather apt for families nowadays.
Cause a lot of parents tend to just give monetary stuffs to their kids instead of really spending time with them.
Which is what the kid actually wants.
And the penquins!

Marriott High Tea Buffet

Had 1-for-1 cause of DBS Indulge.

One of the better hi-tea buffets=)
Variety's not bad.
But Pariss can beat it together with its very attractive price.

Prawns and the popiah.

Prawns were cold but sweet.
Rather fresh but the downside, peel it yourself.
Thankfully, for me, my cousin peeled for me=D

Fried food!!

The nugget I ate had a bone.
So, proof that they used real chicken meat?
The rest was alright.

The one on the bottom right hand side is roast lamb and the sauce.
It's a berry sauce if I nv rmb wrong=/
Been a week ago that I ate it.
Lamb has the norm taste that some people will avoid.
Was tender but a little too much fats and skin was tough.

Laksa!

Gravy was alright.
But the dried shrimps part could be finer.
Remember to cook the noodles though.

Oyster omelette!

Special order!
It's just eggs and oyster=)

Sushi!!
The popiah's hot and crunchy with the beansprout in it=)

Sushi was alright only. Not very nice.
The one with the yellow abalone look-alike thingy was kind of salty.

Prawn dumpling.
Had the prawn smell. But prawn didn't seem fresh.
Dumpling was a little dry though left in the dim sum basket thingy.
Beancurd wrapped dumpling.
Quite salty.

Curry chicken.
Can't remember the exact name.
But it's quite nice and tender.

Black pepper chicken.

Quite nice but the chicken's a little tough.

TEH TARIK

This is done on the spot.

Sweet and bubbly. Hahas.

But quite nice though it tasted much like the normal tea at coffee shop without the bubbles.

MEE SIAM

A lot of dried shrimps and very milky.

Similar to the laksa, the dried shrimp could be finer.

**Note: The mee siam bee hoon's hidden in a basket next to the gravies. It's a little hard to notice though=)**

DESSERTS!!

Their desserts were A.W.E.S.O.M.E.!.!.!

There are durian cake. But its hard to cut the durian cake with their equipment.

So got one of their staffs to help me.

Marshmellow.

Think it's homemade? A little hard on the outside and had the berry taste.

The stick used to hold on to the marsh mellows.

Was unable to remove it from the stick so took the entire stick=x

Durian cake!

Love the top part. It's cold and frozen and super shiok!

Brownie was super nice! or naise!

Thick sold chunks of chocolate and simply... decadent!

Chocolate cake was quite nice too.

And the chocolate cake was moist and soft.

Supposed to be cheesecake but I guess the labels were wrong.

Great chocolate fudge cake though!^^

The chocolate treats here are absolutely heaven.

Was good.

Mango lime mousse cake.

It's a little sour cause of the lime but other than that, it's alright.

With coconut shreds at the top.

This is good=)

It's bite size so eat it in one bite=)

And almond's good for the brain!

This is plain and would best be taken with jam or something sweet=D

This was like moist chocolate cake.

But the male lead's quite muscular and the female lead's got the elegance.

Zhou's Kitchen Dim Sum Buffet

Century Egg Porridge
This is one thick porridge. All the grains seemed to have been completely grinded=)
And taste of the century egg is mostly consistent in the porridge with minute bits of meat and deep fried you tiao(dough fritters).
One of my favs there.

Curry chicken.
Not bad.
The chicken was easy to pull off and most of the pieces of meat given are without the bones already.
Potato that was claimed to be "sweet potato", though felt more like our normal ones, are hard and inadequately done.
[Comes with the deep fried bun(same as those that comes with crabs)-you can also request for the steamed ones for a healthier choice=)]

Coffee Pork Ribs
A tad too sweet but would go well with rice.
Fried a little too long. Crispy but a bit too much of flour.

Char siew pastry

The supposed famous Tung Lok dim sum. But wasn't as good as said.

Just alright.

Pastry was sweet and the meat in it too.

Should have made the pastry dough a little plain so as to not make the entire snack just plain sweet.

Vegetarian Spring Roll

This was crispy but meant to be taken hot=)

A good one done.

Drunken chicken

A cold dish. Tender chicken but the chicken tastes rather plain.

Don't feel the drunken part.

Jellyfish with pork

Marination of jellyfish wasn't good. Pork was alright but kind of tough. Another cold dish.

Won't order this again.

Carrot cake with XO sauce

I love this dish!

Minus the fact that it's a little too spicy.

But the carrot cake taste really goes well with the egg and bean sprouts.

All the soft and crunchy taste together.

Hmmm. I feel like eating le!=X

Deep Fried Bun

Accompliment for the curry chicken.

Taste alright but by the time it came, we finished that bowl of chicken already.

So was a little unnecessary.

And it makes you feel full!

So if possible, tell the waitress that you DON'T WANT IT!

Char Siew Bun

Was alright to me.

The filling had a little too much starch?

Cause it was quite gluey

Steamed pork ribs with bean sauce

A bit too salty.

And the meat's rather hard.

Siew Mai

There's fats in it!

So that the taste would be better.

With prawns and mushroom too.
This is not bad=)

Dumplings in spicy sauce

This is good if the skin is thinner.

Sauce is not very spicy but don't eat it when it's still steaming hot!!

Har gao a.k.a. prawn dumpling

Didn't really like this cause the prawny smell was kinda strong.

But it's totally prawn with fish paste!

So still alright.

Lotus-wrapped chicken

This was not bad.

I like the glutinous rice-very flavourful.

But the chicken was quite salty.

Black glutinous rice with coconut milk

Cold and the rice were not very well done=(

Only took a few mouthfuls.

Gui Ling Gao

This was quite bitter but turns out alright with the sugar syrup. (Served cold)

But I prefer the one at Lao Beijing.

Taste better to me, I guess.

---OVERALL---

Will go back considering and price and certain food there like the porridge and carrot cake.

And one good point to note is that they only steam the dim sum when you order it.

That explains the waiting time.

It's alright for high tea.

Prices:-

Adults : ard $16 after ++

Timing: 3-5.30pm

But they will start asking you for last order around 5.

(For people who wants to eat their fill at buffets!)
-Most imptly! Don't starve yourself! The meal before your buffet, eat half or a quarter of what you normally do.
Eat so that you don't feel hungry.
Like that you will not suffer from gastric problems=)
Tested and proven by ME!=D
-Drink some soup before you start your buffet.
Joey said she heard somewhere that drinking soup helps you to eat more?
Maybe aids in like digesting food, cause there's adequate liquid in ur stomach after drinking soup.
But refrain from drinking too much!
-Eat lesser carbs(eg rice, noodles, pastry, etc)! But still must take a bit!
Otherwise you would feel sick of all those meat, sweets, etc.
Tested and proven by ME!=D
-If you are going for meat buffet, like at Seoul Garden, eat meat and dessert together.
My cousin said that would help u to remove any overly salty or sweet taste.
Then you'll have the appetite to eat more=)

How to sleep???

Thankfully yesterday's exam was good=D
But had like semi-nightmare(?) last night
Semi cause it was like a dream yet the details was somewhat a nightmare.
Hahas.
Think I should be able to score well for yesterday's paper.
Hopefully they give me mark for the qn 7a) =/
Sat at the last seat of the row.
Shall tell you the pros and cons of that.
Pros:-
-Can put your bag right behind you so can take bag easily.
-Can leave the hall faster cause you don't need to find you bag.
-No need to walk so much

Cons:-
-The invigilator will take your scripts when the guy says stop writing like immediately.
They snatch it!!!=(
-Under constant screening.
Cause they all like to stand at the back.

That should be all.
It seems like that pros are more than the cons right?
But then I want the little bit of extra time to write that little bit of stuffs=X

The bee... Day 3 of the swelling.

Can see that one of the foot is swollen and the other isn't?

Went to see the doctor today.

He said it's an infection already.

And it's spreading.

Seen from the red parts forming on my feet.

And he gave me 6 types of medicine=X

One cream for the itch, one anti-biotic and the rest for itch, pain, runny nose etc.

I think the way I ate the medicine after a meal looks like I ke yao(taking drugs).

Lol.

But quite true also. Cause medicine's drugs.

Sigh.

Hope that tml's exam will be a breeze.

And today I won't be woken up halfway through my sleep by the itch.

My mama cooked crab today!!
Then I can't eat=X

Doctor say no seafood.

Then when I was eating in front of her and my sis the both of them start talking about how the crab is that suculent, sweet, etc.

Then my mama peel the crab and show to me.

Initially I thought she wanted to give me=(

Then she ask me to see how the flesh look like all that=8

People anyhow say one also can believe.

The show depicted that people in the past are very very dumb lor.

And the sz-tak never think about the princess.

Dunno how the later episodes will carry on.

Hopefully the exams coming on will be easy and I know how to do them!!

AIRPORT STUDYING NIGHT-OUT!!

It's NIGHT OUT leh!!
Hahas.

Sounds super shiok and fun right?=D
Lol.
But was not bad.
Hahas.

Studied with Tricia and Wanting yesterday.
Did stats!!

And ate the laksa at WANG CAFE.
Was so so only.
Did not taste as good as it smells.
Hahas.
Finally tried it after like smelling it for so many nights.

Starz Restaurant

One for one buffet
(valid til end April 2011)

Its a weekday lunch buffet promotion.
(U.P. $39++/pax)
Amounted to $23 per pax when I went there.
But it wasn't worth it.
My friend told me there was the wagyu beef burger when she went.
But when I went, there was no wagyu beef and no pasta.
I called up the day before and asked what was available.

The lady over the phone described plenty of cuisines like Mediterrean, pasta, laksa, carving station, etc.
Sounds good right?
Like there's plenty of variety.

When it's only like the ones below plus roti prata, and some others.
But overall very disappointed by the lack of variety and the quality.

One of the better ones would be the ice cream!=)
Macha and chocolate!
The green tea taste is obvious and taste like those macha powder which is used in hot tea in jap restaurants=)
Chocolate is really thick and creamy. Cha Soba.
The soba was totally a flop.
Soba was overcooked and the added sauce did not manage to make the soba any better.

Laksa soup was very diluted. I think its cause they used milk instead of the traditional coconut milk.
Prawn is the Tiger Prawn that served at the appetizer section.

Tiger Prawn was really sweet!!=D

With the spicy thousand island sauce.

Then there's the Japanese Octopus. It was alright.

And the Parma Ham with Melon.

It was salty and sweet together.

But slice of the parma ham's too much resulting in the overall taste being more on the salty side.

The first prawn I peeled!=D

The ones below were alright.

The chicken was tender.

There's the Rosemary Chicken and the sauce for the braised duck's the same as the one for the chicken.

Dessert!

Now we're talking.

This is the best part of the buffet.

Shall mention the stuffs that are good.

Mango Mousse Cake. Taste of fresh mangoes blended to make up the mousse was evident.

Chocolate Cake. Thick and solid taste of chocolate.

And the portion of the sponge cake to that of the chocolate layer is approx. 2 : 5.

A decadant treat!

Needless to mention, the coffee ice cream was creamy and the sweetness was great!

With the almond slice on top of the crisp waffle, it's definitely one that kids would love!

Pour on maple syrup and chocolate sauce and it's one that a sweet tooth would not be able to resist!

Bread & Butter Pudding.

Not very good though. Should add in more of the pudding side=P

Cause the higher proportion of bread makes it kind of dry.

Nonya Kuehs

The colourful kueh lapis is very good!=)

The layers were thick and could be separated easilyXD

Had fun eating that.

As for the other two, Bengawan Solo definitely has better versions of them.

On the whole, it felt like I was there for the desserts.
Hahas.
But service there was good though the staffs didn't seem to have much knowledge.
They were probably students though.

Verdict : 5/10

Would not go back again unless their menu's changed.
It ain't worth the usual price of $39++!

SHAGGED!!!!

Studied two nights in a row.

Bad idea.

Hahas. First night was super productive.

Studied for 6 hours @ T3 Coffee Bean.

There's free coffee and tea!

Lol. But we still bought the drinks.

Tricia got 2 Pure Vanilla Ice Blended (LARGE!!!).

Both are large!

Hahas.

Got to emphasize on the LARGE word.

Lol.

And I had like a super hard time deciding what to get.

Lol. As usual.

At the end got the Iced Caramel Latte=)

And a Japanese Cherry Hot Tea.

But it didn't work=( I still felt sleepy after some time.

Tricia also felt sleepy.

And at 12 midnight, the historic moment, TRICIA TAN TOOK HER FIRST COFFEE!

Hahas. And she was like super awake the whole night til the morning.

And I was like sleepy.

Hahas.

Sat night was the 2nd night.

Was late=X

Then study.

But maybe cause insufficient sleep.

So we were kinda sleepy and not as productive as the first night.

I got the Pure Double Chocolate Ice Blended=)

And tricia got vanilla again.

And its LARGE SIZE!!!!

Then after finishing that, I went to get Red Bull.

Hahas. But not much effect.

And we went to play with the coffee machine.

Hahas. I totally felt like a small kid.

Saw the same guy and I think he recognise us.

Cause when we went to order drink he said hello.

Study study.

Didn't have a lot of sleep today also=(

And I got consultation at 9.30am!

Went for PBF today.

And was totally at a lost. I don't understand what he's talking about like half the time. Feel so dead=X

I should really start studying hard for this and worry about money later. I need money!!! So after exams, it's finding a job time! Need to earn money for my korea trip in July!

Quality Hotel Teochew Porridge Dinner Buffet Porridge with the condiments! All condiments were great!=D With the Fish Porridge They got two types for you to choose from: Fish Porridge and Plain Porridge The Fish Porridge was the ultimate winner in it! It was thick and there are chucks of fish meat in them. The Plain Porridge on the other hand is just our normal teochew styled porridge with the grains of rice in it clearly seen and tasted. Soon Kueh The skin is soft and nice with the black sauce but, don't be greedy. Cause their black sauce is really sweet. Setting of the table when you're sitted.

Kueh Pie Tee?

Hahas. It's a do-it-yourself(a.k.a. DIY) corner next to the laksa sector.

Ingredients: Turnip veg(a tad too salty=/), Egg, sweet sauce and peanut.

Laksa.

Not bad, but improvements can be made=)

It's thick and creamy but the bean puff didn't absorb the soup in it.

Soup is lacking in that punch you get from laksa in katong.

And the ingredients ain't much.

Just half an egg, beancurd puff and the laksa leaves.

They use the traditional rooster bowl=D

Other stuffs!

Mutton, bee hoon, braised tau pok(taste was very bland) and braised egg.

Cereal Prawns

Mutton - Not very well cooked cause some parts were tender and some were hard to chew.

For a $15.90++(per adult) buffet, I think it's alright to go once a while.

To go there and relax and eat with friends and family=)

Sanctum

A show about mountains and caves?

That's what you thought of?

Same here! Hahas!

But after watching the show, I changed my perspective.

The show depicted what humans are capable of doing and what people would do in desperate situations.

Well, maybe not desperate in the way people normally think of but more on the part where people make decisions between life and death.

The main character is on Frank(dad) and his son, Joshua(son).

Joshua was more of the rebellious kid and the unhappy one with his dad.

But later on, as he went to get trapped with his dad in the cave, he started to know more on his dad and their relationship got better and better.

Many scenes of people dying, sacrificing and then there's the revenge scene.

And the show goes on showing a glimpse of hope of survival of the fittest.

Ultimately, who would survive?

You would only know if you'd watched it!=D

Had Mike Buckle's lecture today for PBF. Was a little sleepy cause had few hours of sleep. His lecture was alright and I think he probably knew that sg students are only after ans. So he gave us lecture notes but in point form. In a sense, it's a good thing nonetheless for students like me. Hahas. Kind of glad that my memory of past works started to come flooding back to my brain. And I start remembering what jonathan peh had taught. And I realised that the exam's actually not so intimidating after looking at the answers! Hahas! Shall have to work hard! And before that. Shall sleep soon cause tml's lecture's at 8.30=x

Avocado Milk Shake from Vivo's basement! The one at the centre area near Asian Kitchen My dinner on Sat 26 March! Po Po cooked them! Super nice! THere's sambal kangkong, liver with spring onions and the black black prawn! Everything's super nice!!!=DD Esp. the prawns! Finished every bit of 'em! Beary with the prawn! It's so big even beary loves it!=D

Mama made this. It's the dim sum pork ribs with black bean.

Super nice also!

Hahas. Love to eat this.

Savoury and the meat's tenderness.

Should I get this top?=/

Watched Limitless with Nicholas

Not a bad movie after all!

It's about this writer whose having what people call "writer's block"

But this writer's block is there for quite some time alr.

What happened was the writer, Eddy (short for Edward) met his ex-brother-in-law.

And the latter gave him a pill.

Supposedly a magical pill.

So eddy took the pill and realised it's ability to fully activate the brain's functions to its maximum.

His ability to learn, analyse and do stuffs became so radical that he did not realised that he'd walked 10 streets.

The movie went by where he became rich through shares and started to work for this guy called Van Loom, a financial wizard apparently.

Time past and he realised there's people who wants to get hold of the pills he has.

And then gradually, some people dies, gets injured, etc.

Eddy became wary of the people ard him and starts to plan of what to do when his supply of pills ran out.

Nicholas actually predicted what would happen in the fighting part of the story!

Hahas! It's funny esp when after he said it, the scene starts to change to match what he'd just said!

And it happened twice in a row! Lol!

The ending is ambiguous, almost like that of Inception.

And perhaps one which I do not really fancy.

I prefer something more clearcut and not so much for me to rack my brains.

Still, this movie is worth a watch!

Some updates! Hahas. $3.99 Fish & Chips from Manhattan Fish Market Eunice's winnie ring!! W.I.N.N.I.E.!.!.! Add $3 for mushroom soup and a drink(coke/sprite) =) Eunice & her Grilled fish and chips!

Had my revision lecture from uol examiner Amos today. Went to the wrong venue initially cause did not double check=x Coincidentally, the lecture at the initial venue was also an intro to econs one and the lecturer's a foreigner. Lol. So I thought I was in the correct lecture. Until some ppl started leaving and the lecturer turned a bit pissed off. And then he started to start on some eg on a booklet which I didn't have so I suspected that this wasn't my lecture. So found my correct LT like after 20 min. Made a new friend! Hahas. And saw that Jiayin's in the same econs lect. So saved! Hahas. Thought I was gonna be alone for econs lect. Amos was kinda interesting and he's exactly what my econ's lecturer had described. His teaching style is really good in the tutor's perspective but not so much in the student's perspective cause ultimately, most students only look forward to answers given. Me included. I guess that is what the sg education system had led us to. Since we were young, grades were all that really mattered so answers therefore became really vital and other stuffs just faded into the background. Looking forward to tml's lect! Hopefully he can cover a bit more!=) And I want my papers back!!!

How to make Hot Chocolate Drink=) Things you need:- A metal bowl/pot or saucepan Fresh milk=)

Cacao or what we call cocoa powder

And, most importantly, a cup!

Step 1: Pour milk on the pan and heat it gently over the fire.

Stir continuously till milk is warm.

Step 2: Take some cocoa powder and pour into the cup.

Step 3: Add the warmed milk into the cup with powder and mix well.

This is the end product: hot chocolate!

The first Math test I've set this year for my student. Lol. Hope that he'll do well in it. It's not really that tough. It's gonna be the start of revision next week! And I don't feel really prepared=(

Went to sing K and watch movie yesterday. Watched Sucker Punch Did not really understand the gist of the movie. Maybe cause I was late for the movie. But after reading wikipedia, it appeared that the movie really don't appeal to me at all. It seemed kind of lame and not really that worth the watch.
