Taiwan purchase of SIM card - tourists Wednesday, May 24, 2017 @ May 24, 20175th time in Taiwan! And bought the SIM card from the airport. Inside the transit area, the telcos open at 10am to 10:30pm. Prices range from TWD300 to TWD1,000 for unlimited (yes, you did not see wrong) data and some talk time if your package allows. Depending on your number of days and preference, compare between telcos to get the best deal for your days here in Taiwan. As we arrived on a red eye flight today, the telcos in the transit area had not opened. So we tried the telco just outside the arrival hall. There're 2 of them namely Chunghwa and T Star. They're on opposite ends so it's better to know which one you're most likely to choose before moving on to the telco. We tried T Star 台灣之星 as its something new to me. Had tried Chunghwa and Taiwan da ge da 台灣大哥大 and their reception were great with no issues. Back to T Star. Their packages are as shown below: If you're travelling in between days, they'll advise you to get the one with more days. For example, if you're here for 4 days, and you want data for all 4 days, get the 5 days one. We got our SIM card and they got us to try if the data works. Tried it and the data didn't work so she explained that it's because some phones requires set up and she did not do the set up. After which the data worked fine. However, after half an hour or so, the data seemed rather shifty and didn't work smoothly. I wouldn't take this telco in Taiwan anymore. Prefer to pay a little more to get better connection and SIM cards with Chunghwa and taiwan da ge da. Labels: Chunghwa, SIM card, T Star 台灣之星, Taiwan, Taiwan da ge da, tourist, value for money |
