First experience on the TRA to Ruifang from Taipei Main Station
Tuesday, May 30, 2017 @ May 30, 2017

Decided to head to Ruifang from the TTA today cause it feels faster! Hehe.

Came to the TRA at Taipei Main Station even though their website online stayes that the next train is at 3+pm. We came out of our hotel at 1+pm.

There was an uncle at the ticketing side who was so nice to guide and tell us which train we could take.

This is the type of trains you can take and where they go.
This table works like a stem and leaf diagram. The horizontal row is the lists of stations.
The numbers on boxes represent the ticket price.

He told us to take the next train which is their local train at 14:34. 1.5 hours earlier than what we saw online. He even helped us when we bought the tickets! So friendly!

How to use this machine
This is the ticketing booth.
Step 1: Insert coins or magnetic card (which should be credit or debit card). Note that they do not accept notes, so if you do not have any coins, there's a coin changing machine at the leftmost place to change NT$100 to NT$50 coins.
Step 2: Select the number of tickets you wish to purchase.

Step 3: Based on the Stem and Leaf diagram, check which train types suit your travel.
The type of train is showed in the middle column (i.e. Tze-Chang 自強 - this is their high speed rail and the most expensive one, Chu-Kuang 䓵光 - mid tier price and Fu-Shing/Local 復興區間 - their local train and the cheapest option)

How to use the diagram:-
(1) find where you're headed to
(2) see which trains go to your destination
(3) decide on which trains to take!

Example, I'm from Taipei Main station and heading to Ruifang station.
So look for the destination
So there're 3 trains that you could take. Just choose the ones that you prefer. We got the local train which cost NT$49. Cheapest and recommended by the uncle who helped us.
