Punggol container food shacks & Broadway Zi Char Wednesday, March 1, 2017 @ March 01, 2017With not much of a clue where I'm headed to, my bf only mentioned it's a row of containers that's converted to food places. And with google's help, we arrived at punggol promenade where the containers were neatly seated next to one another. You could get there by public transport @ Punggol's LRT - Riveria or drive to where Popeyes is and walk further in towards the police station. There's no definite name for this place so I shall name it punggol container food shacks. The place had bars, snacks, western food as well as an Italian fusion place. When we arrived about 6+, the car park was already full and it took us almost an hour to score a lot. Upon walking in, the place was surprisingly crowded. It could be because it's a new thing so the hype hasn't died off. We went down the lane to check out the types of food available and wanted to try the fish and chips by Big Fish Small Fish as recommended by the newspaper. The very prominent signboard. We decided to try ordering through the self ordering kiosk as the queue via the cashier was so long. This kiosk is available at most of the food shacks we saw. Felt that it's a pretty good idea as it could help speed up the ordering process and orders wouldn't be wrong as its on the customers onus to check prior to paying. It was during this ordering process when we heard that the waiting time was a good 1.5 hours! And half the type of fishes that they offered were sold out. We decided not to wait and head off to our next choice, Sizzling Hot Plate & BBQ. This shack was also full of people but not as packed as the fish and chips shack. It's also slightly bigger, lesser crowd and offers a wider range of food. However, the prices are on a steeper end and we concluded that for this price and its environment, uncle leong is a better bet. And so, we left for Broadway Zi Char @ 812 Punggol Drive. We decided to get 3 dishes and rice! Been craving for this since yesterday. Hehe. After talking about the one at the fish head steamboat place. This is totally different but it's not bad. They were very generous with the fish sauce so the dish was very tasty. However, I do not really understand why they would fully cook the oysters.
