Laksa steamboat - San Laksa Steamboat

Had this major laksa craving! So we headed for laksa steamboat at telok blangah pretty early on sat.
Arrived at the steamboat place ard 6:30 and it was fully reserved! We were surprised cause the place weren't packed but the lady told us that we would either have to finish eating by 7:15 (which equates to 45 minutes eating time) or come back later ard 7:30-7:45 when there are empty slots. We chose the latter and they called us at 7:20 to tell us that seats are available.

To satiate our rumbling tummies, we had oyster omelette at Seah Im food centre opp harbourfront centre.
The oyster omelette was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. This is a $3 portion and they have $3/4/5 portions available.
Today's omelette was a little over cooked and a little charred.
The sugarcane next to it is also one of our favourite stalls! Cheap and good! $1 for a mug. How do you find such affordable and pocket friendly sugarcane nowadays?

After getting stuffs from vivocity, we headed back to try the famed laksa steamboat

Upon entering, the strong aroma of laksa filled our noses. The coconut milk smelled really strong and fragrant. Just how I like it to be.

This is the menu!
A little pricey but the soup is non chargeable hence the ingredients comprised part of the soup cost.

Drinks menu
We took the laksa and clear soup as our base.
Laksa soup was a little diluted but just right for steamboat. The clear soup seems to be chicken soup and was quite nice for drinking initially. It became quite salty after using it as a steamboat base.

They'd serve a small dish of laksa leaves! My absolute favourite part of this place!

Our choice of dishes!
Rice and noodles are $1 each. Beef is $8, pork loin is $7, prawns are $8, beancurd skin with fish paste $3 and fish dumplings $3.
These were not bad but didn't manage to really sip up the laksa soup which was a pity.
The fish dumpling appears to be homemade as the skin was really chewy. The filling was really salty so it's good to cook it in the clear soup as it would better accentuate the flavour of the fish dumpling.
The pork was tender and I preferred it cooked in the clear soup. Beef was not bad but a little tough. Probably should cook it just a while.
Prawns were the tiger prawns kind and they were fresh and sweet.

Had to cook the laksa noodles spoon by spoon cause I didn't want to lose any of the noodles in the broth. Could be my own cooking skills but the noodles couldn't seem to absorb the laksa broth.

Overall a good experience but won't be back so soon for a second experience. Good to try but rmb to make reservations before going for early dinner!
