Kura Sushi - Taipei branch
Wednesday, January 13, 2016 @ January 13, 2016

Saw this popular sushi place on Instagram!
Read up on how to book it and it's through an app!
This one!
EPARK.TW by SGS, INC.
https://appsto.re/sg/3Waq4.i
Click on it for App Store download.
Last min booking on a Wednesday is possible!
But do book early for weekends and dinners.
First, choose the branch you're heading to

Currently there're three branches.
One in Taipei (songjiang nanjing station - yellow and green line intersection)
Taichung and Zhongli

After booking, this is the confirmation number.

This'll appear on the homepage to remind u of your reservation:)

To the sushi place!
Take the train to SongJiang Nanjing station and take exit 8, turn to your right and walk all the way straight till u reach the traffic light and turn right and the place is on your left.
See the sign??
It's to the left!
Waiting area!
With a screen showing the waiting number!
But do rmb to head down the stairs to get a number if you did not make a reservation.

If you've booked (through the reservation app), go to the counter and tell the lady your reservation number!
Then she'll guide u to the waiting queue to enter:)
The sitting area inside!

Our seats! Table 12!

There're condiments on the table with disposable chopsticks for you to use
All the necessary sauces and stuffs are placed at the insides of the table.
And they've powdered green tea!
Free tea for you.
Plus freshly grated wasabi, unless those dry ones at most sushi places.
And tempura sauce in the small blue bottle (日本醬油)
Cups and sauces are placed on top.
All self service.
A touch screen for you to order freshly made sushi, sides and all kinds of food.
And the famed kachapon machine.
To play, you got the insert 5 plates into this place shown below:-
This is to the side.
We concluded its probably to minimise the time for their staff to clean up and also for easy tracking.
Plus, it's fun!;)
A boy won one!
So cute right!
It's the sticker tapes series this time.
Saw on Instagram previously that they had the miniature sushi and such.
Now more on the food!
There's the conveyor belts with ready made sushi.
A menu telling u the kinds of sushi available.
Most of the sushi are priced at TWD40 (~S$1.76)
Most of the plates have two pieces whereas those more pricey items come with one.
And more stuffs like sides, desserts and drinks available.
After you order, when your order's arriving, actually more like zooming over, haha, this'll appear on the screen:-

Made to order Tempura Prawn
TWD60 (~S$2.64)
Comes zooming in on the conveyor belt above the ever moving sushi below.
Comes together with a tempura seaweed too.
Though part of this turned a bit soft cause it got covered by the prawn.
Prawn was fresh and nice with the Japanese sauce (aka thick tempura sauce)
But nothing special.
A few items that are for me!
Hehe.
Cooked aburi prawn with tempura and mayonnaise.
The prawns were equally fresh and honestly, all the sauces were more than adequate so other sauces are really unnecessary.
Aburi salmon with the same sauce as the prawns above.
Seriously no soy sauce required for almost all the sushi here!
Their own accompanied sauces are tasty enough!
Aburi salmon with garlic sauce.
Yes, you didn't see wrongly, it's garlic!
The sauce, as usual, is basically salty like miso and the taste of garlic is quite strong too!
Joey had these two.
No comments on the inari but the hand roll, which was prawn and mayo, had the filling of not rice but cabbage.
Pretty innovative and healthy i guess cum unfilling which is good for this place!
Chawanmushi!
TWD60 (~S$2.64)
Really smooth!
And there's mushroom and prawns inside.
Though the prawns were very overlooked.
Kinda feels like it shrunk.
Sea Urchin TWD40 (~S$1.76)
Feels like it's impossible??
But here it is!
Though didn't feel like the sea urchin's fresh cause the smell and taste is really strong and was really unacceptable for me.
Only had one and had to throw the other away.

Also had the fresh salmon
Which was one piece to a plate
And it's really fresh!
Plus big slice! One of my favourites here!
Hokkaido scallop! TWD80 (~S$3.52)
This is the special.
Did you see the words?
It means it's calculated as two plates.
To remove the plates, take the top one off, and you'll see the bottom.
Then push the bottom plate out of the hoop.
And then you get two plates!
Yay!
More plates!
But it's just that there's so much one's tummy can hold.
The food I ordered on the belt!
They have this too!
Edamame.
Oh! And did I mention that there're tags on top of the bubble thing so you just have to look at the tag to know what's in it.
So thoughtful!
At the end of the meal, press the bottom left button for the bill!
We had a total of 15 plates!
Joey - 5
Me - 10
But no kachapon capsules:(
Oh well.
But kudos to the service staffs!
Excellent standards!
Our cabbage hand roll dropped on the floor so the cabbage scattered and the staff was so nice and patient with us.
She used wet tissue to pick up the stuffs and explained that she just did some basic cleaning and apologised for that.
Like seriously?!
The standards are really like radically different comparatively.
Anyway, we spent a total of TWD720 (~S$31.72)
Almost like eating in sg's sushi places.
But for the quality, service as well as the innovation and fun, definitely worth it!
Understand why some ppl can eat so much!
I would have stopped at 5 plates but for the winning mindset, just had to keep going the next lap.
Hehe.
Do visit!
And rmb to reserve prior to visiting!
